Bespoke Training

When it comes to learning how to sail or going for yachting qualifications, we understand that everyone has different requirements. So this year we are offering a totally tailored training package.

We are always pleased to design training programmes to suit specific needs, so in order to make it easier for you to tell us about your sailing experience and help us design your training programme we have devised an easy to complete online experience questionnaire. It's so simple and asks all the right questions. Click here to complete it and we'll get back to you with a training programme to suit you; or contact us on + 44 (0) 2380457733 or by e-mail

Spanish Rias

For many years we have run sailing trips across the Bay of Biscay to North West Spain. This year is no exception and we still have places available on a couple of these ocean passages. Once in Spain (mid June) 'Rumour of BOSS', our 38' Ocean equipped Sigma, will be based in Villagarcia in Galicia, where we will be offering 7 day cruises of the beautifully unspoilt Spanish Rias.

These cruises are ideal for those who would like to get their Competent Crew of Day Skipper certificate in tidal waters outside of the UK. Contact us on + 44 (0) 2380457733 or by e-mail

Clive Mason

We would like to pass on our congratulations to Clive Mason, formally Chief Instructor at BOSS, for qualifying as a MCA / RYA Yachtmaster Examiner. Clive joined us in 1998 and worked full time for 7 years. Clive now has a "proper" job but still teaches some of our higher level courses. If you are qualified as a Yachtmaster and enrol on one of our five day Cruising Instructor courses you are likely to sail with Clive. Or you may even meet him on your Coastal Skipper or Yachtmaster exam!

Yachting TV

We are really pleased to be extending our association with the innovative Yachting TV. Peter Ellis, our Principal has been busy working with YTV's Steve Adams to produce a series of short video tutorials on boat handling. Each piece will be 8 - 10 minutes long enabling viewers to pick up lots of bite sized tips on how to  moor a yacht. The monthly online magazine covers the latest yachting issues and every month you will be able to see BOSS Instructors giving hints and tips to help improve your sailing skills. Watch this months episode

Staff Training

Following the winter season, Pete Ellis, the School Principal took our most senior full-time Cruising Instructors for three days of training earlier this month (April). Paul Evans, Nick Wood and James Hollingsworth all had a fantastic, if somewhat testing time and learned lots of new tricks to pass onto course students.

60 Mile Offshore Passages

Due to demand, this summer, we are introducing a series of passage making cruises for those who would like to build up their mileage including 60 mile Yachtmaster skippered passages. Full details will be out shortly. In the meantime, if you are looking to get your skippered passages in then please feel free to call us for a chat about what you need. Contact us on + 44 (0) 2380457733 or by e-mail

Ocean Wandering

Having completed the last cruise in the Caribbean, Ocean Wanderer is now preparing for the 2,500 mile passage from Antigua to the Azores. Paul Chedd, has sailed Ocean Wanderer the length and breadth of the Caribbean and many of you have written in to say how much you have enjoyed cruising in the Caribbean with him. After a nine day cruise of the Azores, Paul and Ocean Wanderer will complete the 1,000 mile passage back to UK in early June. We still have a couple of spaces if anyone is interested.
