Teenagers Cross Channel Cruise

Dates for 2023 coming soon!

This cruise offers older teenagers the opportunity to go a little further afield and stretch themselves, both in terms of their sailing ability and personal development. Weather depending, we aim to visit Cherbourg in France and Alderney in the Channel islands, as well as various ports on the south coast such as Poole or Weymouth. This cruise is open to those aged 17 – 19 inclusive, who hold a minimum of an RYA Competent Crew certificate or have equivalent experience.

It’s an ideal cruise for those looking for a DofE Gold Residential activity or simply a bit of adventure over the Summer. For those at Coastal skipper level, it ‘s a perfect opportunity to put shore based navigation skills into practice and experience offshore sailing. A great way to build sea miles and experience new skills such as watch keeping.

It’s not all about sailing though! As well as making new friends and creating memories galore, there will be plenty of opportunity to explore the places we visit. In Cherbourg you will have time to visit the local market, or maritime museum. Stock up at the local Supermarché or enjoy a Crêpe at one of the local eateries. We hear there is a superb Pizzeria near the marina!

In Alderney, bike hire is a must to explore the fabulous beaches and WW2 fortifications on the island,  before finishing off with a beach BBQ. For star gazers our visit couldn't be timed better with the Perseid Meteor shower peaking this week and the Milky Way highly visible from Alderney's clear sky.

The cost includes 7 nights onboard accommodation, all onboard food, mooring fees, wet weather gear and safety equipment. Spending money will be required for bike hire, any meals or drinks ashore and sundries such as water taxis in Alderney and concert tickets. We would recommend around £80 as a guide for the week. Places are limited to 6 per yacht. What a great Summer adventure!
