Fastrak Day Skipper
The BOSS Fastrak RYA Day Skipper course is the shortest course that you can attend in order to attain the Day Skipper practical qualification from scratch. This two week programme is designed to take those with little or no experience up to RYA Day Skipper in the shortest possible time. This course gives you all you need to gain a level of competence that will enable you to skipper a yacht on short daylight passages in moderate conditions.
The course includes training in general seamanship, navigation, pilotage, safety, boat handling and skippering. During this intensive course you will learn how to crew, navigate and skipper as well as pursuing the; RYA Competent Crew, RYA Day Skipper Theory and RYA Day Skipper practical qualifications.
The 14 day course is broken down into 3 modules:
- 5 day RYA Competent Crew practical course
- 4 day RYA Day Skipper shore based navigation course
PLEASE NOTE: The new shore based course is partialy interactive and requires students to download and install the RYA Books app on their chosen device. A tablet, smartphone (with a large enough screen) or Laptop will be required. Students will be able to login on up to 3 different devices.
RYA eBooks & course material is designed to be read solely within the RYA Books app, through Apple Books, Google Play Books, or Online Access.
- 5 day RYA Day Skipper practical course
The first 4 nights, whilst on the Competent Crew course and the last 4 nights whilst on the Day Skipper practical course are spent living onboard the yachts. Whilst classroom based, accommodation is not included. 5 nights of accommodation will be required for nights 5 - 9 of the course (Friday night to Tuesday night inclusive.)
