WHAT TO BRING

Please ensure that your kit is packed in a soft holdall, sailing bag or rucksack. Extra bags/ suitcases can be kept in our locked store for the duration of your time with us.

All safety equipment is provided onboard. Top quality XM Oilskins are available for hire from the school, for £7.50 per day. You will however need a pair of waterproof boots (clean Wellington boots are absolutely fine as an alternative to sea boots.) Most importantly, you will need a good sleeping bag/ pillow. Please see the full kit list below.

 

Kit List  - Winter

 

-      Sleeping Bag – 4 seasons

-      Pillow

-      Hot water bottle (optional)

-      Hard wearing cotton trousers, leggings or tracksuit trousers

-      Warm Fleece/ pullovers

-      Warm shirts/ polo necks

-      Warm casual jacket

-      Thermal Underwear

-      Thermal socks

-      Warm gloves/ mittens

-      Deck/ sailing gloves

-      Scarf

-      Neck towel

-      Woolly/ fleece hat

-      Non marking deck shoes or trainers

-      Shore going kit

-      Sea boots or wellies

-      Towels x 2

-      Wash bag & toiletries

-      Foul weather gear (can be hired)

-      Sunblock

-      Moisturiser

-      Refillable water bottle/ sports bottle

* please note that jeans are fine for shore going kit, however are not suitable for sailing under foul weather gear. They absorb moisture and will feel damp!

The above list is intended as a guide. If you are a complete beginner, we suggest that you do not buy any expensive specialist clothing or equipment before your course.

Your instructor is very experienced and will be able to advise you about any kit you wish to purchase, that will best suit your intended type of sailing.
